Inverurie is a prosperous market town with an ancient history. The town is 17 miles north west of Aberdeen (c.10 miles from Aberdeen airport) and is situated at the meeting of the Ury and Don rivers. It is overlooked from the northwest by Bennachie, possibly the most popular hill range of the Grampian mountains (the highest peak, Oxen Craig, is 528m).

The local landscape is varied, encompassing conifer and broadleaf woodland, rolling hills and open moor land. the local coastline, offers equally diverse environments, with wide sandy beaches, tall dune formations and rocky cliffs.

The depth of Inverurie’s heritage is evident in many places within the town and local environments. Among others, these include the town’s Motte, dating from the 1100’s (commonly known as The Bass), the monument to the Battle of Harlaw between the Highlanders and Lowlanders, together with many prehistoric monuments such as the Easter Aquhorthies recumbent stone circle and the Pictish Bandsbutt Stone.

Inverurie also offers a perfect base for visiting the splendors of Upper Donside, Strathdon, Royal Deeside and Cairngorns.

Inverurie is a well-provisioned town with a variety of local shops, restaurants, and a 24-hour supermarket. There is also a local farmers market on the second Saturday of every month. The city of Aberdeen is just 20 minutes away and provides access to all major retail outlets.
